Ou-yang Feng (Leslie Cheung) lives in the middle of a desert, where he acts as a middle man to various swordsmen in ancient China. One of those swordsmen is Huang Yao-shi (Tony Leung), who has found some magic wine that causes one to forget the past. At another time, Huang met Mu-rong Yin (Brigette Lin) and under the influence of drink, promised to marry Mu-rong's sister Mu-rong Yang. Huang jilts her, and Mu-rong Yin hires Ou-yang to kill Huang. But then Mu-rong Yang hires Ou-yang to protect Huang. This is awkward, because Mu-rong Yang and Mu-rong Yin are in reality the same person. Other unrelated plot lines careen about. Among them is Ou-yang's continuing efforts to destroy a band of horse thieves. Oy-yang recruits another swordsman (Tony Leung, but the other one), a man who is going blind and wants to get home to see his wife before his sight goes completely. The swordsman is killed. Ou-yang then meets another swordsman (Jackie Cheung) who doesn't like wearing shoes. Oy-yang sends this man after the horse thieves, with better results. We then find out what a man must give up to follow the martial path.

Good looks. Charming. Ladies man. Male buddies looked up to him. Not anymore. He is a shadow of the man he once was. A man past his prime. He has gambled it all away. He is down and out. And he is a father to a son who is smart and loves his father dearly  though he may not always understand why his father hurts his mother so. So when the mother plots to leave the father, the son informs the father and mother is violently beaten and locked up. But mother schemes to leave anyway after that, the son is left alone with the father. Soon the gambling habits of the father makes a thief out of the son. The son resists but is no match to the father's cajoling and blackmail. The son was finally caught and sent to a juvenile detention center. Father visits him and son bites off his ear. The lost of innocence is complete. Ten years later, son returns to his home town and sees somebody who looks like father  they do not meet. Father and son walks away in different directions.

Ah Chat is a 27 year old assassin. He has experienced the cruelty and violence of the underworld since a tender age of 7. His experiences made him ruthless in all his missions. In one of his missions, Ah Chat was recognised as the killer. In order to avoid being caught, he escaped to Taiwan to look for his buddy. However, money and woman led to the breakup of his brotherhood and eventually, betrayal and death.

In this Hong Kong production about mobsters and their obligatory thirst for revenge and all things violent, Cheung plays an angry hit-man who escapes to Taiwan to escape his enemies. Cheung Tat Ming (House of Mahjong, Iron Lady Chef) plays his childhood friend who becomes involved in the brouhaha of things.

Director Herman Yau brings crime and romance together in this 85-minute movie with some very nice cinematography. Having helmed the camera lens for other Hong Kong movies like Dennis Laws Fatal Contact (2006) and Tsui Harks Time and Tide (2000), Yau does display an eye for lush images and well-framed shots. There are also some appropriate flashy fast and time-freeze edits which helped to set the mood for the dangerous world the mobsters live in.

A connection with other galaxies even before Star Wars came into being: a love story that is out of this world& Tang monk Tripitaka (Nicholas Tse) and his three disciples  Monkey King Sun WuKong (Chen Bo-lin), Pig Monk Zhu WuNeng (Kenny Kwan), and Sand Monk Sha WuJing (Steven Cheung) arrive triumphantly to a heros welcome in Shache city. Little do they know that ahead of them lays Tripitakas most arduous challenge before he achieves deification∧ it is a test that he and only he alone can overcome. During their stay in the city, the three disciples are captured by evil Tree Spirits. Tripitaka borrows the Golden Pole and tries to find a way to save them. He meets a young lizard imp Meiyan (Chalene Choi) who is more than a visual match for Quasimodo: matted bushy hair, and theeth of any dentists nightmare. Meiyan falls in love with Tripitaka at first sight and devotes herself to trailing him. She even sets a love trap to ensnare him. Tripitaka unwittingly falls into the trap and, in the process, breaks the Heavenly Code. The region is one full of monsters, strange beings and creatures of unknown orgins and among them are the beautiful Princess XiaoShan (Fan Bing-bing) and her army. On a passing journey to Earth, her path crosses Tripitakas and she vows her aid. Tripitaka decides to leave with the Princess. Meiyan is heartbroken. She picks a fight with Princess XiaoShan and, although she loses, she finally discovers her own identity as a galactic warrior. She eventually helps the princess in defeating the enemy and rescuses Tripitaka and his disciples. After the battle, Meiyan surrenders to the Temple of Heaven for judgment. Torn between passion and righteousness, Tripitaka rebels against the heaves to rescue the gallows-bound Meiyan. A benevolent Buddha is moved and pardons the two, on condition that they embark on a journey to the west to accomplish the Eight-One Tasks to redeem themselves as well as save the world.
